The TPS7H4002-SP is a radiation hardened, 5.5-V, 3-A synchronous step-down converter, which isoptimized for small designs through high efficiencyand by integrating the high-side and low-sideMOSFETs. Further space savings are achievedthrough current mode control, which reducescomponent count, and a high switching frequency,
which reduces the inductor footprint.
The output voltage startup ramp is controlled by theSS/TR pin which allows operation as either a standalone power supply or in tracking situations. Powersequencing is also possible by correctly configuringthe enable and the open drain power good pins. Inaddition, the TPS7H4002-SP can be configured inprimary-secondary mode for parallel operation.
Cycle-by-cycle current limiting on the high-sideFET protects the device in overload situations andis enhanced by a low-side sourcing current limitwhich prevents current runaway. There is also alow-side sinking current limit which turns off thelow-side MOSFET to prevent excessive reversecurrent. Thermal shutdown disables the part when dietemperature exceeds thermal limit.
