The ICL8105 is a digital AC/DC flyback controller with Power Factor Correction (PFC). The PFC function enablesa rectified sinusoidal input current waveform with a power factor typically up to 0.99 and THD < 10% for a widerange of operating conditions. ICL8105 provides primary side constant output current control that avoids thesecondary side control feedback loop circuitry usually needed in isolated power converters. This approachsupports a low part count that is necessary to build up the application. ICL8105 has multi-mode operationsand it selects the best mode of operation based on operating conditions. The multi-mode operation willautomatically switch between quasi-resonant mode (QRM) and discontinuous mode (DCM) and active burstmode (ABM). In addition, ICL8105 supports both secondary side 0 - 10 V dimming and primary side microcontroller dimming application. Digital and RF interfaces can be supported by a microcontroller using adigital-to-analog converter.
