The UCC23513 is an Opto compatible, singlechannel,isolated IGBT, SiC, and MOSFET gatedriver with 3-A peak output current and 5KVRMSreinforced isolation rating. The high supply voltagerange of 33 V allows the use of bipolar supplies toeffectively drive SiC power FETs. UCC23513 candrive both high side (with external boot strap diodeand capacitor) and low side power FETs. Keyfeatures and characteristics bring significant performance and reliability upgrades over standardopto-coupler based gate drivers while maintainingpin-to-pin compatibility in both schematic and layoutdesign. Performance highlights include high commonmode transient immunity (CMTI), low propagationdelay, and small pulse width distortion. Tight processcontrol means small part-to-part skew. The inputstage is an emulated diode (ediode) which meanslong term reliability and excellent agingcharacteristics over traditional LEDs. In addition, theMaterial Group I mold compound and resultingcomparative tracking index (CTI) of >600 V meansrobust insulating material. UCC23513’s highperformance and reliability along with its stretched SO-6 package,>8.5-mm clearance and creepagemakes it suitable for inverter applications in motordrive and solar, DC motor control, industrial powersupplies, and appliances. The higher operatingtemperature opens up opportunities for applicationsnot previously able to be supported by traditionaloptocouplers.

评估模块UCC23513EVM-014

UCC23513EVM-014 evaluation module is designed for evaluation of TI ’s 5-kVRMS isolated single-channelgate driver with opto-compatible input, UCC23513. The input is current driven, requiring between 7 mAand 16 mA for device turn-on, and can be reverse biased for turn-off. The device is capable of 4-A sourceand 5-A sink peak output current for driving Si MOSFETs, IGBTs and WBG devices, i.e. SiC and GaNtransistors. This user guide covers UCC23513EVM-014, which is used for evaluation of UCC23513.

Developed for high voltage applications where isolation and reliability is required, the UCC23513 deliversreinforced isolation of 5 kVRMS and a surge immunity tested up to 8 kV along with a common modetransient immunity (CMTI) greater than 100 V/ns. It offers lower propagation delay, lower part to part delayskew, higher CMTI, smaller Pulse Width Distortion and higher operating temperature, which providessignificant performance upgrade over opto isolated gate drivers, while still maintaining pin to pin compatibility.

The input current and voltage characteristics of the e-diode™ functionally mimics the primary side of anopto-isolator. The output side VCC has a wide recommended operating range from 15-V to 33-V andallows the device to be used in a low-side or high-side configuration along with bipolar supplies for SiCPower FETs. The pin-to-pin compatibility enables designers to use UCC23513 in existing designs andnew designs for motor drives, industrial power supplies, solar inverters, and UPSThe UCC23513EVM-014 evaluation board utilizes a SN74LVC2G17DBVR (dual Schmitt-Trigger buffer) todrive signal current on the primary side of the device. The board is populated with clips and 2-positionheaders for flexibility in connecting power and signal inputs, along with signal test points and large GNDvias to enable installation of ground springs. The PCB layout is optimized with minimal loop area in theinput and output paths and showcases design for high voltage between primary side and secondary sidewith 8mm creepage.
